ECUBALSHEET manufactures and exports balsa wood from Ecuador: sheets sanded in millimetres, glued blocks and strips, kiln-dried and graded by density.
Who we are
ECUADOR BALSA SHEET ECUBALSHEET S.A.S. is an Ecuadorian company based in Guayas. Behind it is the Sereni family's experience in the balsa industry since 1975, which we now apply to two things: piece-by-piece density control and sheets calibrated on a wide-belt sander.
Our factory in Durán-Yaguachi
The factory is in Durán-Yaguachi, Guayas province, next to the port of Guayaquil. There we receive the wood, sanitise and dry it, cut it, sand it, weigh it and pack it for export.
Balsa from Ecuador
Balsa (Ochroma pyramidale) is a very light wood and one of the fastest-growing trees in the world. We work with local growers of plantation balsa in Guayas and Los Ríos, selected for traceability and quality.
Process and quality control
Kiln drying down to 8 – 12 % moisture with our specialized program (the days depend on the dimensions of each product), cutting on multi-rip saws, sanding to gauge on both faces and weighing every piece to grade it by density.
Phytosanitary certification
Our products are certified pest-free by AGROCALIDAD, Ecuador's Phytosanitary and Zoosanitary Regulation and Control Agency, and by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Aquaculture and Fisheries.
